C.A.M.P. Policies
I. ANIMALS
- No pets are permitted.
- Special arrangements can be made for boarding horses.
II. CHURCH ATTENDANCE
- Apprentices are expected to attend a local church on Sundays. After two months, apprentices will remain in the same church the duration of the year.
- Transportation may be arranged by riding with a permanent staff family or by car pooling with other apprentices.
- Apprentices are expected to be present at MMR chapel services during Retreats and other outreaches.
III. CLOTHING
- Apprentices are expected to appear presentable for various types of ministries. Professional, neat riding attire is expected for public trail rides. Suits or dresses are expected for public meetings, dress pants or skirts are acceptable for Tuesday evening Bible study.
- Shorts are prohibited on the grounds except for approved sports.
- Sunbathing is restricted to the pool area.
IV. DATING
- It is expected that C.A.M.P. students have committed this time to focusing solely on their relationship with Christ. No relationship with the opposite gender beyond friendship may be initiated with out expressed parental permission to the executive director. The principles of courtship are strongly encouraged.
- Apprentices should practice both respect and discretion in relation to the animal breeding operation.
V. ENTERTAINMENT
- All entertainment must meet the standard of excellence and edification.
- No music with a rock beat will be permitted.
- All movies are to be watched in the supervision of a staff home, except the movies in the library which are available for viewing at any time.
VI. FINANCES
- Tuition
1. C.A.M.P. is designed to prepare people for the ministry, therefore, it is the policy of MMRM not to
accept an applicant who is financially indebted.
2. C.A.M.P. is a highly personalized program. Tuition is utilized to insure a quality program. Tuition
covers housing, meals, (except for some travel), utilities, equipment, administrative costs, insurance,
and development costs. Apprentices are responsible for texts, riding apparel, phone calls, and
transportation to and from town. It is estimated that these costs will not exceed $400.00
3. A variety of payment schedules are available and can be arranged with the Business Manager.
Any payment plan must be agreed upon in advance. It is understood that all fees must be paid during
the apprenticeship year. Failure to make payments according to an agreed upon plan will result in
termination.
B. Insurance
- CAMP carries a $250 secondary accident policy on its apprentices. This applies only to CAMP sponsored activities. The apprentice’s insurance carrier is the primary coverage. All claims must go through their insurance first. Doctor and chiropractic visits are the responsibility of the student.
VII. INTERNET USE POLICY
- No internet connections will be allowed in dorms due to phone line demand.
- There are computers available for C.A.M.P. use in the classroom with access to email programs. No internet use is permitted. Computers are primarily for study, this takes priority over email.
VIII. HOUSING
- All necessary furnishings will be provided by MMR. Should breakage occur it should be reported immediately to the Office.
- Utilities are provided by MMR. However, as responsible stewards please be careful of wasting electricity, gas, etc.
- Apprentice guests may be housed with apprentices or in guest housing. Permission must be secured in advance with the Director of Guest Services (Chip). From time to time apprentices will be expected to host (lodging and/or meals) ranch guests.
- Apprentices shall not be permitted to enter apprentice housing of the opposite sex.
- Summer staff are prohibited from frequenting apprentice housing unless accompanied by the apprentices.
IX. MEDICINES / HEALTH POLICY
- Apprentices are to supply their own medicines such as: aspirin or other pain reliever, cold medicine, cough syrup, Pepto-Bismol, band aids, Benedryl, Ace bandages, and any other medications you use. The ranch has items that can be used on an emergency basis but you will be expected to have your own on hand.
- Apprentices must secure the nurse’s (Patty May), approval to be excused from class or work for health reasons.
IX. OFF DUTY HOURS
- Apprentices shall notify their resident staff advisor of any intent to be off campus. If their advisor is not available, please contact Dan Cooper.
- Apprentices are expected to be in their dorms between 11:00pm and 5:30am.
- Apprentices will assist with chores on weekends on a rotating schedule.
X. PHONE
- There is a phone available in each dorm for the apprentices' use. These phones are local access only. All long distance calls must be made with a phone card or calling card. Due to the number of apprentices using the phone, please be considerate and keep calls to 10 - 15 minutes.
- One phone line may cover more than one dorm, therefore, each dorm will need to pick up to distinguish if the call is for someone in the dorm. If that room does not pick up, please take a message for the apprentice and then see that the message is delivered.
- All calls for apprentice should be received in the dorms. Should an apprentice receive a call on the ranch line, the caller will be directed to the dorm number.
- Office phones are off limits for personal calls, except with special permission.
XI. VEHICLES
- Apprentice vehicles should be parked in the Town Hall parking lot. No vehicles are to be parked in camp except for loading or unloading.
- Owners of vehicles are strictly responsible for the insurance, care and operation of their vehicle. Permission may be granted to other licensed drivers cautiously.
- On occasion a ranch vehicle may be secured for travel for functions relating to C.A.M.P. purposes. Permission must be granted by the Director of Camping. Driver must be 21 or older. All operators must be pre-approved for insurance coverage.
- Vehicle rentals may be available for pre-approved drivers and must be arranged Tuesday through Saturday for weekend use.
XII. Summer Policies
- During summer camp operation, apprentice curfew will be the same as all other summer staff.
- During summer camp operation, apprentices will acquire permission to be off campus from their summer supervisor.
